University links…

GLW Feeds has developed excellent links with local agricultural universities over the last few years. The whole of agriculture, like many industries, has struggled to recruit and retain quality staff and we have at times, been no different. Our solution to that problem has been to carefully select, recruit, train and develop graduate entrants. They have real jobs but work closely with more experienced mentors. Over the last 4 years we have taken 6 talented young people into the business, 4 of whom are still with us.

Beth Litherland and Debra Holliday

Part of that development process has been a two way flow where Staff go into the universities to speak to and lecture groups of students while also encouraging groups to visit the mill and farm. Two of our graduate entrants are now Allumni of their universities helping and advising current students into work.

On a similar theme, each year we welcome local Young Farmers Groups into the mill for presentations and tours.
